Brain Booster Review: Innovite’s Bacopa Monnieri

Posted on May 10, 2015 by Bio Man in Brain Boosters, Mental Health, Product Reviews No Comments

In this second Brain Booster Review I will be reviewing Innovite’s Bacopa Monnieri.  Bacopa is also known as “Brahmi” or the “herb of grace”.  Renowed for it’s calming and cognitive benefits.

Imagine being assigned a very complicated task for a subject.  Any deviation in your thought processes and your potential understanding will disappear like sand blown away by the wind.  In real world scenarios this could be an exam, very intense lectures, a major presentation to your boss and VP’s.  Or even your relationships with your significant other or family.

One thing that is constantly overlooked in cognitive enhancement is clarity of thought.  I consider this separate from focus in that you could focus all you want but your thinking is still muddy or cloudy. I think of it akin to shining a 1000 watt bulb through a muddy pane of glass.  Sure you are thinking hard, but not much coherent enlightenment is getting through to your mind.

Essentially you are expending mental energy with very little impression whatsoever.  But what if there is a brain supplement which upon taking will drastically improve mental clarity?  Such supplements do exist and one which I am going to discuss is innovite’s Bacopa brain supplement.

Innovite’s Bacopa Monnieri Gives You Mental Clarity

Bacopa Monnieri is especially useful if you suffer from anxiety attacks or where your mind is cloudy.  I’ve used Innovite’s Bacopa supplement to help me get through periods of severe anxiety attacks.  It is especially useful if you need an edge during a presentation or if you are engaged in mentally intensive work.  As Innovite’s Bacopa will help calm and clear your mind.  But as always please consult your doctor before using any Nootropics.

The Side Effects of Bacopa Monnieri

The side effects of Bacopa Monnieri are well-known, in particular you should take Bacopa with some food.  There is also the chance you may experience headaches and/or experience diarrhea.  Also it is documented that over using Bacopa can lead to internal Hemorrhaging.  So it is recommended that you follow the recommended daily dosages.

So what is Innovite’s Bacopa Monnieri Made of?

The ingredients of Innovite’s Bacopa Monnieri are as follows:

  • Bacopa Monnieri 150 mg
  • Bacoside 7.5 mg
  • Bacopaside I 10.2 mg
  • Bacopaside II 9.3 mg
  • Bacopasaponin C 6.8 mg
  • Jujubogenin isomer of Bacopasaponin C 10.1 mg
  • Bacosine 2.25 mg
  • Apigenin 0.4 mg
  • Luteolin 0.75 mg
  • Beta-sitosterol-D-glucoside 0.5 mg

Bacopa Monnieri has been linked to improving memory retention and reducing anxiety

Bacoside, Bacopaside I, Bacopaside II, Bacopasaponin, Bacopasaponin C, Jujubogenin isomer of Bacopasaponin C are a class of chemical compounds derived from Bacopa Monnieri known to enhance neuro protectivity and decrease oxidation in the brain.

Bacosine no info found for this ingredient, probably another chemical derivative of Bacopa Monnieri.

Apigenin has been linked to reducing anxiety and spurring sedation.

Luteolin has been linked to providing antioxidant benefits and preventing certain age related illnesses.

Beta-sitosterol-D-glucoside has been linked to reducing benign tumors and reducing chlorestoral levels.

My opinion is that if you are the type to experience cloudy thinking or incoherent thoughts.  Innovite’s Bacopa supplement may be just the right supplement you need for clearer thinking.  You should also consult your doctor in case of any innate medical issues or if you are taking any medications.

Boost Brain Power with Nootropics

Posted on April 11, 2015 by Bio Man in Brain Boosters, Mental Health 1 Comment

Are there supplements which can boost brain power? As a matter of fact yes, there are nutrients, artificial drugs and natural herbs which can improve memory, protect against dementia and even spur brain tissue growth!

Your Brain and Limitless Possibilities

In the movie “Limitless”, Bradley Cooper’s character Eddy Morra comes into possession of the Nootropic drug NZT-48.  After ingesting the drug, Eddy experiences a significant boost in brain power.  Experiencing 100% perfect recall, focus and comprehension.  The movie explores how the drug totally transforms Eddy’s confidence and lifestyle, and also includes battling a rival russian gangster whom also gets his hand’s on some NZT-48.

Now as far as reality is concerned there is no drug out there which can match the capabilities of the fictional drug NZT-48.  But there are prescription drugs e.g. Adderall and Modafinil which many users (many University students and ADHD users) who swear these drugs can give you almost Zen like concentration levels.

Nootropics and BioHacking

Now the thing about brain enhancements (Nootropics) is that it is both an art and science. The whole subject of Nootropics itself can be considered a sub topic under “BioHacking”. Seeing the human body itself as a complicated living nano-biological machine, this places the whole human race on a wide spectrum of health and vitality.

This broad spectrum of health and vitality also encompasses sickness and disease which unfortunately can have unforseen consequences as to the effectiveness of Nootropic supplements.  One person’s brain boosting supplement may prove to be a dud for another person.  Or worst case, the other person cannot properly metabolize the supplement and ends up with liver damage (e.g. Modafinil).

Fortunately for most of us taking a good brain boosting supplement does not have to be a risky affair. Reputable brand names and transparency of the ingredients minimizes those risks.

Boost Nootropic Effectiveness by “Stacking”

To get around the issue of ineffective Nootropic supplements, it has been discovered that mixing various ingredients or whole supplements in specific ratios considerably boosts the effective attributes of those individual components (Stacking).  For example someone may take some Aniracetam along with some GABA and Bacopa monnieri to reduce stress and anxiety but also drastically increase focus and memory retention for studying.

Now the topic of “stacking” can be more than just mixing Nootropic ingredients around. Some people have turned it into a precise science and know exactly how much, when and what to eat with the stack to get near full effectiveness.  Indeed, the topic of stacking can be both art and science depending on the thoroughness and discipline of the user.

Your State of Health Determines How Effective Nootropics Are

One thing that I have seen being overlooked consistently is the overall state of the person’s health.  Now just think about it for a moment, if someone has liver damage, brain damage or has problems absorbing nutrients from food.  How effective do you think ingesting a Nootropic supplement will be?  Being honest about your health and any other alcohol or prescriptions that you use will go a long way in determining how best to take a Nootropic.

Some 1 star reviews on Amazon.com for various Nootropic supplements may actually be due to poor nutrient absorption or high toxicity levels in the customers.  Of course this is hard to prove but something to keep in mind when researching which Nootropic to take via reviews.

Mental Health is More Than Just Your Brain

Posted on March 28, 2015 by Bio Man in Body Health, Mental Health 2 Comments

I was just reading an article earlier today about MIT scientist: Dr. Stephanie Seneff.  She proclaims that in the next 10 years half of all children born will fall into the autistic spectrum.

Let that last sentence sink in for a moment. Right now, Autism is occurring at a rate of 1 in 68 children born today.  Up from 1 in 10,000 in the 1980’s,  clearly something has drastically changed from that time on to now.

Gut Bacteria and The Link to Your Brain

The saying “food for thought” may be more profound than one realizes.  With the Standard North American Diet (S.A.D) our very biology is fighting a losing battle with processed foods, pesticides, mineral and nutrient deficient food.  This in turn has lead to a generation afflicted with ailments that our ancestors did not have to deal with.  IBS, Crohn’s disease, gluten allergies  and leaky guts the list goes on and on.

With the constant exposure to such a wide variety of toxins is it such a surprise why many of us have allergies?  For some of us those allergies can be deadly.  It’s been stated that up to 70% of our immune system is located in our gut.  The very same gut we have been sterilizing and bombarding with antibiotics, artificial sugars, alcohol and debilitating stress.

With that in mind, I’d like to refer to some research which states that many of the chemicals with which we associate with just the brain can actually be found in our guts.  Neurochemicals such as GABA, serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine, acetylcholine and melatonin which the brain uses to regulate its neurochemistry.

The True Source of Many Mental Illnesses?

Now is it any wonder that when people are suffering from severe mental health issues? e.g. Bipolar, schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s. Could the main cause and source of these diseases simply be a chemical deficiency or severe imbalance in the patient’s gut microbiome? Such a diagnosis would require a complete paradigm shift in how we view the connections between mind, brain and body.

Modern medicine has run on the philosophy that the mental function and bodily function are two separate physiological systems with little overlap, but as the research is showing the gut can have an effect on the brain and the brain can have an effect on the gut.  The mind and body are not totally separate but are in fact part of a sophisticated holistic feedback loop.  If body is compromised then our mental health will be affected too.

When you think about it, maybe our ancestors were on to something when they referred to our gut’s as the “Second Brain”.

Detox at the Cellular Level

Posted on March 28, 2015 by Bio Man in Body Health, Mental Health No Comments

It’s a dirty world out there, outdoor pollution, indoor pollution, car pollution, food pollution, ocean pollution . . . You get the point, but most of us are completely baffled by why so many of us are getting sick.  In short we need something to help us detox at the cellular level regularly.

Those same diseases can cripple us, sap our energy and even destroy our minds.

Our bodies are at war . . . with our own environments

It is estimated that your body is exposed to over 700,000 chemicals daily.  With that much exposure to chemicals, it is critical that your basic bodily functions be in optimal condition.

Bodily functions in this context being able to excrete bodily wastes, sweating appropriately, breathing etc.  But the irony of living in the modern age is that those important bodily functions are being heavily impeded by our hectic, highly artificial environments and foods.

A powerful element to aid in detoxification

Despite the massive wave of chemicals, radiation and poisons being thrown our way, nature has given us help.  The element “I” or more specifically Iodine, is a critical element used by our body for cellular detoxification.

Iodine has gained something of a bad rep nowadays due to the fact it was heavily abused in salt shakers in the 50’s and 70’s.  The result of which was high blood pressure, hypertension and fluid retention in susceptible individuals.  Iodine was effectively demonized and wiped out of the public consciousness during that time frame.

Benefits of Iodine

Iodine has been documented to aid in the following:

  • reduce anxiety
  • enhance energy and stamina
  • prevents goiters
  • clear brain fog
  • prevents retardation in new borns
  • rudimentary antioxidant
  • used to prevent fibrocystic breast disease and breast cancer
  • can remove sodium fluoride toxicity out of your body
  • ADHD
  • Autism
  • Cellular detoxification

A man by the name of Dr. Brownstein believes that in today’s modern society there is an epidemic of iodine deficiency.  And that many of the mental issues and health problems that are popping up are more of a symptom of iodine deficiency than a standalone disease.

Iodine is starting to make a come back

With the incidences of cancer and mental disorders abounding, some people have taken the unconventional medical route.  Instead of buying pharmaceutical pills, many people have realized that they are simply iodine deficient and need to increase their uptake of it.

I can personally testify that after taking an iodine supplement my concentration has improved noticeably.  My anxiety levels are nearly non-existent and my thinking is much clearer.  Not too mention the other health improvements to my body (energy).

One powerful tool to help survive in a toxic world

Iodine can be a powerful tool in your arsenal of low level celluar detoxification.  Combining iodine with a exercise regimen and a regular diet full in raw fruits and vegetables is a step towards achieving optimal health.
